Readers who enjoyed the unusual characters in Swamplandia! and The Secret Life of Bees will love this tale of growing up on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, in a little town where the legend of a mass suicide and a strange group of friends helps a girl lose her fear of living, and the woman she becomes let go of her past.
Rebecca Meredith’s work spans the very different worlds of the Gulf Coast and New Orleans, where she grew up, and the Pacific Northwest, where she now lives. Her prose and poetry has appeared in many literary magazines and anthologies, and on NPR. She is currently serving a term as the first poet laureate of Redmond, Washington. A sequel, Indian Summer, is in the works.
